Fusion welding has been in use for many years by the jewelry industry. The machines have always been large and very expensive. Now this technology is available in a simple machine that is inexpensive to own and operate. SPARKIE  welders require only standard 110 VAC (foreign models available).

This fusion welder was developed especially for the production craftsman. The machine is capable of welding findings without solder, without annealing the parts and with little clean up! A new finding can be applied every 10 to 20 seconds on a finished piece of jewelry. Stones can already be in place. Many repairs take only seconds.

How does it work?

SPARKIE  welders are capacitive discharge welders. An instant weld is achieved when an electrical charge is released through a forged nib at the base of the fusion finding. A small explosion occurs that drives off dirt, oxides and atmosphere. In this tiny vacuum similar and dissimilar metals can be fused. It all takes about a millisecond. (Lead bearing alloys do not weld.)

First, you load a fusion finding in the collet and then hold your work under the jig. The welder is then charged for a few seconds . The release is tripped, and BANG! the weld is complete. No damage is done to the piece or your finger.

SPARKIE II MILLENNIUM
The ultimate mini welder! The Millennium Edition of SPARKIE II replaces SPARKIE II. Charging is done with a foot pedal, allowing both hands to be free for setting up the job. Welds everything you asked for: earposts, French hook wires, jump rings, tie tacs, joints, catches, ear clips, stick pins and cuff links in surgical stainless steel, sterling silver, nickel, 14K gold and titanium to virtually any metal.

SPARKIE II MILLENNIUM  has a built in dc voltmeter. This front mounted voltmeter makes accurate welding a snap. The optional Production Table offers the high volume production and flexibility of welders costing three times as much. Each moldable thermoplastic disc form holds your jewelry in precise position for welding. It's fast and easy to use. Jigs
Jigs provide a point of electrical contact and act as a guide for locating the position of the weld. Special shapes are provided for contoured metal surfaces and certain findings. * Requires L(long) type collets.
