Each Bi-Metal is made up of two specially selected bonded layers. The top decorative layer is welded to a heavy back for stability. They may be formed with traditional tools and techniques. Please use medium and easy silver or gold solder for fabrication. Prices are based on the precious metal markets and the actual weight of the order at the time it is filled.

Crinkle Bi-Metal

Just heat to reticulate! No surface preparation! No Pickling! A fine grained wrinkle texture appears almost instantly. The sheet stays flat for easy fabrication. Reticulate after forming! Actually stir up the surface! Fuse metal into it as you go. 80/20 reticulation alloy (1/8 by thickness) welded to a heavy fine silver back. Please order in one inch increments.

22K Gold/Sterling Silver Bi-Metal

A heavy (1/8 by weight, 1/12 by thickness) 22 karat gold is diffusion welded to a base of solid sterling silver. It is bonded using traditional mokume-gane techniques. Baldwin's Patina oxidizes only the shakudo for the highest color contrast possible: deep purple/black against silver! Fold, engrave or carve to reveal these contrasting surfaces (1/8 4% shakudo by thickness). Combine with the other bimetals for great effects. Melting point 1432°F.
